What the data says

Of the 359 pupils who finished Year 11 at Cardinal Newman Catholic School in 2023, 52% stayed on in Cardinal Newman Catholic School’s own sixth form (Brighton and Hove average 13%), 9% went to a further education college and 1% started an apprenticeship.

Among the 334 students who left the sixth form in 2023, 31% went to university (Brighton and Hove 36%, England 37%), and 29% of level 3 students progressed to one of the most selective universities, against 19% nationally.

Religious Studies is unusually popular at GCSE: 93% of the year group took it, against 31% of pupils across England.

GCSE results in 2025 were above the national picture: Attainment 8 of 50.4 against 46.1 across England and 46.2 in Brighton and Hove, with 48% of pupils getting grade 5 or above in both English and maths (England 45%).
