Of the 216 pupils who finished Year 11 at The Mirfield Free Grammar in 2023, 24% stayed on in The Mirfield Free Grammar’s own sixth form (Kirklees average 16%), 28% went to a further education college and 6% started an apprenticeship.
Among the 147 students who left the sixth form in 2023, 52% went to university (Kirklees 42%, England 37%), and 3% of level 3 students progressed to one of the most selective universities, against 19% nationally.
Sixth form colleges are the main next step: 37% of leavers went to one, roughly three times the England rate of 13%.
Design and Technology is unusually popular at GCSE: 39% of the year group took it, against 11% of pupils across England.
