Of the 194 pupils who finished Year 11 at Monkwearmouth Academy in 2023, 9% stayed on in Monkwearmouth Academy’s own sixth form (Sunderland average 21%), 68% went to a further education college and 6% started an apprenticeship.

Fine Art is unusually popular at GCSE: 29% of the year group took it, against 9% of pupils across England.

10% of leavers were not in sustained education, employment or training six months on, compared with 6% nationally.

GCSE results in 2025 were in line with the national picture: Attainment 8 of 45.8 against 46.1 across England and 43.3 in Sunderland, with 45% of pupils getting grade 5 or above in both English and maths (England 45%).
