What the data says

Of the 222 pupils who finished Year 11 at Helsby High School in 2023, 37% stayed on in Helsby High School’s own sixth form (Cheshire West and Chester average 32%), 28% went to a further education college and 5% started an apprenticeship.

Among the 118 students who left the sixth form in 2023, 44% went to university (Cheshire West and Chester 57%, England 37%), and 13% of level 3 students progressed to one of the most selective universities, against 19% nationally; 12% started an apprenticeship, well above the 7% England average.

Sociology is unusually popular at GCSE: 27% of the year group took it, against 4% of pupils across England.

A level grades average C, well below the England average of B-. The largest A level subjects are Psychology, Media Studies and Business Studies.
