What the data says
Of the 90 pupils who finished Year 11 at Coquet Community School in 2023, 46% stayed on in Coquet Community School’s own sixth form (Northumberland average 43%), 36% went to a further education college and 7% started an apprenticeship.
Among the 25 students who left the sixth form in 2023, 56% went to university (Northumberland 48%, England 37%), and 17% of level 3 students progressed to one of the most selective universities, against 19% nationally; 16% started an apprenticeship, well above the 7% England average.
GCSE results in 2025 were well below the national picture: Attainment 8 of 34.9 against 46.1 across England and 44.0 in Northumberland, with 24% of pupils getting grade 5 or above in both English and maths (England 45%).
Sociology is unusually popular at GCSE: 32% of the year group took it, against 4% of pupils across England.
