Of the 240 pupils who finished Year 11 at Cardinal Hume Catholic School, Gateshead in 2023, 51% stayed on in Cardinal Hume Catholic School, Gateshead’s own sixth form (Gateshead average 40%), 31% went to a further education college and 5% started an apprenticeship.

Among the 118 students who left the sixth form in 2023, 62% went to university (Gateshead 33%, England 37%), and 34% of level 3 students progressed to one of the most selective universities, against 19% nationally; 14% started an apprenticeship, well above the 7% England average.

French is unusually popular at GCSE: 69% of the year group took it, against 18% of pupils across England.

GCSE results in 2025 were above the national picture: Attainment 8 of 53.2 against 46.1 across England and 47.0 in Gateshead, with 55% of pupils getting grade 5 or above in both English and maths (England 45%).
