Of the 171 pupils who finished Year 11 at West Derby School in 2023, 34% stayed on in West Derby School’s own sixth form (Liverpool average 46%), 46% went to a further education college and 2% started an apprenticeship.

Among the 62 students who left the sixth form in 2023, 50% went to university (Liverpool 43%, England 37%), and 28% of level 3 students progressed to one of the most selective universities, against 19% nationally.

Computer Science is unusually popular at GCSE: 35% of the year group took it, against 13% of pupils across England.

GCSE results in 2025 were below the national picture: Attainment 8 of 42.0 against 46.1 across England and 42.1 in Liverpool, with 42% of pupils getting grade 5 or above in both English and maths (England 45%).
