What the data says

Of the 181 pupils who finished Year 11 at The Holgate Academy in 2023, 15% stayed on in The Holgate Academy’s own sixth form (Nottinghamshire average 36%), 60% went to a further education college and 6% started an apprenticeship.

GCSE results in 2025 were well below the national picture: Attainment 8 of 34.3 against 46.1 across England and 46.8 in Nottinghamshire, with 20% of pupils getting grade 5 or above in both English and maths (England 45%).

Photography is unusually popular at GCSE: 36% of the year group took it, against 6% of pupils across England.

Among the 34 students who left the sixth form in 2023, 32% went to university (Nottinghamshire 40%, England 37%), and 19% of level 3 students progressed to one of the most selective universities, against 19% nationally; 12% started an apprenticeship, well above the 7% England average.
