What the data says

St Michael's Church of England High School has no sixth form. Of the 224 pupils who finished Year 11 there in 2023, 29% moved to a sixth form college, 56% to a further education college and 5% started an apprenticeship.

GCSE results in 2025 were well above the national picture: Attainment 8 of 58.9 against 46.1 across England and 45.1 in Lancashire, with 72% of pupils getting grade 5 or above in both English and maths (England 45%).

German is unusually popular at GCSE: 32% of the year group took it, against 5% of pupils across England.

Almost every leaver found a sustained destination: only 2% were not in education, work or training six months on, against 6% nationally.
